Too Good For Drugs

Life-enriching skills are at the heart of Too Good for Drugs, an award winning program designed to reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors related to the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.  Whether children face peer pressure or their own curiosity, Too Good for Drugs helps students develop skills essential to making good decisions.  The Too Good for Drugs program is a science-based, field-tested cirriculum that generates short and long-term positive results.  The program is offered to all Henry County 2nd and 3rd graders.

VOICE of Henry County Youth Council

VOICE is a youth movement dedicated to educating their peers on the dangers of substance abuse.  There is a VOICE group in each of the five school corporations in Henry County.  Every other month, members meet in their individual schools to work on posters, displays and other ways to promote anti-substance abuse efforts.  Every other month, representatives from each grade level from 8th to 12th meet to exchange ideas with other schools and work on special projects, watch videos or listen to guest speakers. 

Red Ribbon Week

One week in October, we promote "Red Ribbon Week" in memory of Enrique Camarena, a DEA agent who was killed by a major drug cartel.  We contact area businesses to ask them to donate items such as a free drink or dessert for students who wear their red ribbons into their place of business.  Last year we had 14 businesses and 5068 students participate.  We gave out over 10,000 free items to students who pledged to be "drug-free."

Other Programs

ARIES also assists in funding Henry County Youth League, Sheriff’s Camp, D.A.R.E. and law enforcement and treatment services.

Coalition Information

The ARIES Board meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at 12pm at the New Castle Henry County Public Library.
